Text messaging has become one of the primary methods of communication. It’s an ease that caters to our often fast paced lifestyles. With the added use, a new issue can occur in the hand, Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI). This syndrome can be felt as an ache in the fingers, thumb or wrist. Unexplained tingling or numbness in the hand can follow that muscle ache. RSI is a chronic condition that takes a long time to develop and often an even longer time to heal.
The following are some tips to help potential RSI problems:
Rest or decrease use
Ice pack applied to affected area
Wrist splints or bandage can add an extra level of support if needed
If pain persists, report symptoms to a health care provider
